Our commitment

PublicToilet.dk targets WCAG 2.2 level AA. The service exists to answer an urgent practical question, so accessibility is a functional requirement for us, not an afterthought.

If anything on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, we want to hear about it: write to privacy@publictoilet.dk. Accessibility feedback is treated with priority.

What the filters mean: yes, no, unknown

Facts and filters on this site have three states, and the difference matters:

Filtering by “wheelchair accessible: yes” therefore excludes facilities whose accessibility is unknown. They might be accessible — but no data claims it, and we will not imply otherwise.

  • Yes — a source explicitly states it (for example: the facility is wheelchair accessible).
  • No — a source explicitly states it is not.
  • Unknown — no source states anything. We display “unknown”, and we never silently treat it as either yes or no.

The map is optional — the list comes first

Search results are always rendered as a readable list first; the map is an enhancement, not a requirement. Every core flow — searching for a place, filtering, reading a facility’s details, reporting an issue — works without the map and without JavaScript.

Facility pages, opening hours and source information are plain server-rendered HTML.

Keyboard and input support

The interactive map requires its own pointer and keyboard handling; if it does not work for you, the list view always contains the same facilities with the same information.

  • All interactive elements are real links, buttons and form fields — nothing requires hovering or a pointer gesture.
  • Keyboard focus is always visible (high-contrast focus rings), and interactive targets meet a 44×44 pixel minimum.
  • Forms carry explicit labels, each page declares its language (Danish or English), and headings form a semantic outline.

Reporting a barrier

Write to privacy@publictoilet.dk and describe the page and the barrier you met. We aim to reply and to fix confirmed barriers promptly.
